VIN Lookup FAQs

Where do I find my VIN?

Your 17-character VIN is on the driver-side dashboard (visible through the windshield), on the driver’s door jamb label, and on your registration and insurance documents.

Why does my VIN matter when buying parts?

Vehicles of the same model and year can use different parts depending on engine, trim, and build date. The VIN identifies exactly how your vehicle was built, which removes guesswork from fitment.

Does the VIN decoder work for every vehicle?

The decoder uses the free NHTSA database, which is built for vehicles sold in the United States. Vehicles from other markets may return limited or no results. If that happens, contact us and we will check fitment manually.

Is my VIN stored?

The decoder looks up your VIN directly with the NHTSA service in your browser. We do not store VINs entered into this tool.
